Pontian logistics park starts with five warehouses in JS-SEZ corridor

The commercial number to watch in Pontian is scale. PTT Synergy Group Bhd and Koperasi Kakitangan Bank Rakyat Bhd have started work on Sekata E-Logistics Park, a Johor industrial project made up of five single-storey warehouse units.

The project sits inside the wider Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone story, but it is more specific than the usual corridor talk. PTT describes Sekata E-Logistics Park on its own project page as a development of about 73 acres, planned as a flexible industrial ecosystem for manufacturing and logistics operations. The Star reported that the current development comprises five single-storey industrial warehouse units in Pontian.

That gives buyers and tenants a useful marker. Instead of another generic JS-SEZ headline, this is industrial floor space aimed at businesses that want inventory closer to Singapore and the southern Johor market. PTT executive chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said, in the joint statement reported by The Star, that businesses can respond faster to demand when inventory is positioned closer to market.

The earlier transaction gives the project its rough commercial weight. In August, PTT Synergy was reported to have signed five sale and purchase agreements to develop and sell five Pontian industrial warehouses to Sekatarakyat for RM260 million. The latest announcement moves that plan from agreement into development.

The companies also said the park would include rainwater harvesting systems and electric-vehicle charging facilities. Those features will not decide the whole market, but they show what new logistics stock in Johor is being asked to carry now: not only sheds and road access, but operating features that tenants can put into their own supply-chain reporting.
