The federal government is setting aside 50 acres of strategic land around Kuala Lumpur, valued at RM1 billion, as a new endowment for Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra under Budget 2027.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the land measure during the Budget 2027 tabling on 9 October 2026, according to FMT and DagangNews reports from the speech. The endowment is meant to strengthen Bumiputera ownership and economic participation through the institution linked to Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
For property readers, the important detail is not only the RM1 billion headline value. It is that the asset is land in and around Kuala Lumpur, where government-controlled parcels can become a lever for long-term development, income generation or strategic holding, depending on how the endowment is structured later.
The reports did not identify the individual sites, their exact locations, zoning, existing use or whether any parcel will be redeveloped. DagangNews reported that the new endowment follows an earlier RM200 million endowment to Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra in 1978.
