Forty-five homes in Block D of Pangsapuri Damai Perdana, involving 82 residents, have been ordered vacated after a landslide near the apartment complex in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras.
Utusan Malaysia reported on 23 September 2026 that the evacuation order was confirmed by Kajang Municipal Council Zone 6 councillor Tan Kah Hoe. He said affected residents would be placed at a temporary relief centre at Dewan Orang Ramai Desa Baiduri.
The technical question now is whether the affected block is safe to occupy. Tan said the Public Works Department, the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia and MPKj are conducting checks on the structure and slope, with a report expected as soon as possible. MPKj had also covered the affected slope with canvas as an emergency measure to reduce the risk of further soil movement.
The first emergency call was made at 9:03pm on 22 September. Bernama reported that a five-member team from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station arrived eight minutes later and found a landslide involving a 4.57m-high slope. The soil movement into the collapse area was estimated at about 0.91m.
Bernama's initial report, citing Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar, said residents near Block A were ordered to leave as a precaution. Utusan's later report cited Tan as saying the evacuation involved 45 units in Block D. The common point across the reports is that the order was precautionary and no casualties or injuries were reported.
Utusan also reported that the affected apartment has four blocks and 360 homes in total. Tan said an allegation that a leaking pipe may have been linked to the slope failure is being investigated by the mineral and geoscience department.
